I will check that and change the oil also. Thanks never thought of that.
I imagine fuel would very quickly evaporate out of the oil.
Sounds to me like your over thinking this. Basics is usually how you'll work something out. Does it have:
a) Spark at a plug ?
b) Fuel
c) compression
If you have them, the spark is at the wrong time.... Get the No1 at TDC and set the timing statically.
Do you have a fuel pressure gauge you can place in the fuel line to check pressure ?

Hi Shane, You'd think so wouldn't you and once the engine oil got to Temp of course the fuel would evaporate quickly.
Until it did though your bearings and shells would be in jeopardy and the oil pressure would be near zilch at idle.
Further thought would lead you in the direction of wondering where all this vapourised fuel was venting and if there was an ignition source.....
After seeing what it did to my oil and how thin it was when I drained it 2 days later I wouldn't risk it hence the heads up.
And I doubt many people would be happy to add a litre of fuel to their oil and go for a drive around the block.
Yeah that's certainly true.... I'd still get it running first.... Once it's a runner, shut it straight off and change the oil.
You see there's no point changing it if your going to turn around and dump another litre of fuel into the fresh oil whilst trying to get it running :)
I guess were talking an old V8 though.... $10 of the cheapest oil you can find from the supermarket isn't going to break the bank if it gets flooded again.

i have gone through the basics about 5 times however i am willing to start from scratch. i am redoing the injectors and at the same time i will take the rocker cover off to find tdc with both valves closed.
as for injectors how can i test them to see if the are working properly. one place said take them out of engine but still hooked up to fuel rail and connector then turn ignition on and look for leaks. another friend said wind it over and look at how they spray keeping spark far away.
other than this coil has good spark plug has spark and i have fuel. what else can i test
i think after this i can skip the cert 3 in mechanics and go straight for masters:D:D:D
It's almost always something obvious when you find it :( Does it backfire at all when cranking it ? I would have thought if you have fuel and spark, but the timing was wrong, you'd get lots of backfiring.
Even if you had a leaking injector I'd expect it to start on 7cylinders and just blow lots of unburnt fuel from the dodgy one.
Are any of the spark plugs wet? If your getting fuel, and it's not starting, the plugs should be getting soaking wet.
I found the best way to find if I had the compression stroke was a length hose down into No1 plug hole (as suggested to me on here). I thought I had compression, but didn't .. That's why I couldn't get mine to run earlier this year (after I'd broken it myself by pulling on the dizzie button and pull the centripetal weight off

G`day ,
a good starting point is always "what is it " .
You say 3.9 , that tells little as anything can be fitted and this seems to be what your advisors are using .
35DM8 tells it was factory either late carb or early EFI as in Flapper , though there is no reason a hotwire system couldn`t have been fitted .
You say EFI and jumping batteries , EFI in a no starting condition prefers a fully charged battery as it eliminates many things .
A starting EFI system doesn`t mind so much the battery condition but will tell by kicking when the key is released and not starting that the battery level is not sufficient .
I will also be putting old dizzy back in and seeing if that works
I pulled the top off and pulled fuel rail and kept injectors connected. Turn on ignition and fuel pump and right bank of injectors where constantly flowing. Looking at getting them cleaned even thou they where refurbed ones from America. Otherwise does anyone know ones I could get
If its all of one side, swap them over with the other side, and check its not an ECU fault first.
Sounds a like an ECU fault.....
