Locked AWD is misleading. It's called 4WD.

I was under the impression that the torque biasing centre diff was not able to be locked manually. Can you confirm if this is or isn't the case?

Edit: For clarity it is generally accepted that AWD means "car type" four wheel drive systems that are always driving all the wheels (discounting differential action) and 4WD is when the front and rear propshafts are locked together. That being the case you should probably substitute 4WD for AWD in your post above.
    It can be locked

As for the use of the AWD it was used as thats the most common abreviation used in these discussions,FWD, AWD, RWD its also what Dave Ashcroft used in his reply. Agree though 4wd might have been better, but in context everyone knows what it referes to Might fix it up later

Dude seriously, there is nothing misleading about my post, anyone that is mislead itto thinking an LT230 has somekind of carlike AWD after reading that would not have the skills needed to read in the firstplace

Actually no they where put in for a reason. 1. In response to your comment above and 2. Because certain functions can only be used onroad and certain functions can only be used offroad.

Dave Ashcroft used AWD in reply to your questions where you used AWD. He was likely trying to save confusing you further.

I have used all 4wd combinations onroad and offroad. Low traction conditions also exist onroad. High traction conditions also exist offroad. So such distinctions lose all relevance.

Comments such as this are not helpful. They tend to fan the fire.
I have had the AWD vs 4WD many times with many people to no reliable resolution.
If you want to continue this debate, by all means in a calm reasonable manner. Please refrain from using unhelpful or valueless comments that may inflame.

Hi Guys just in case you missed a previous thread.

DIY LT230 Centre diff Mod to make it RWD but still locks it the same way for 4WD

Remove centre diff and pull it apart and remove small spider gears off the cross shafts. The large spider gear that drives the rear drive shaft you need to weld this to the carrier. Secondly the front large spider gear that drives the front shaft this will free wheel. Only thing it can pop out. You need to weld a washer to one of your cross shafts making sure it has some clearance to the front spider gear which this will prevent it from popping out. Thats it and its simple.
