How did you hack the thermostat? Replace for an adjustable one, or put a variable resistor (pot or similar?) inline somewhere?
I'm very keen on a variable thermostat for my county air con I'm building... I figure since I'm buying parts I can just buy a generic variable thermostat......? I do have an old aftermarket thing I pulled out I can use for parts as well tho.
The actual thermostat was a NTC (negative temp coefficient) thermistor which is hooked to an amplifier which does the actual switching. I spliced into the thermistor wires and the rotary switch brings in other resistors in series to drop the resistance read by the amplifier and move the cut-in/cut-out point down to a lower temp.Quote:

Should be the same as your soft-dash. This could be your coldness problem.
We all know there's little call for good AC in old blighty so it's never going to be awesome. But if there's an actual temp problem with yours it's likely here.

Could be done. Some commercial stuff may not like the electrical noise in a petrol vehicle and you'd need a separate power feed. But it's certainly adjustable enough.Quote:

Being able to choose vent outputs from say -4 to +15C would give me the same functionality as the 85 rover setup but with a far easier setup than the resistor and switch method I used in the work car.
