    Minor Update

    Hi All,

The panel beater sent through some updated pictures - hopefully it is getting closer to painting..

Here are 2 x patches, covering up the since removed sill tanks. Screws? I would have thought that they would weld them up - perhaps they are temporary.

Passenger side and Drivers side - the metal strip that the door seal connects to:

    Rust repairs C-Pillar drivers side:

Rust repair - passenger side under bonnet:

Rust repair - I think drivers side under bonnet:

    Slowing getting there.

    Cheers,
    GG.

Maybe they screwed those covers on in case they thought you might want to stick the sill tanks in at some point? Maybe give them a quick call to let them know that’s not in the plans?

It’s going to look great when it’s done. 👍👍👍

Spoke to them - they screwed them on as a temporary measure, so that they can weld them in.. All good!

    Tiny Update

Well we have a minor update... I went down to the panel beater a few weeks ago, and all of the welding had been done - stupidly I did not take any pictures.

The panel beater has told me that the car will be done by the end of the month - which is fine by me, as I am still cleaning-up the shed it preparation for it's return.

Remember that this is a closed door re-spray - well the panel beater told me that because the RRC has exposed interior body parts, he will be painting those as well.

True to his word - he's done that where the tools are mounted:

So - it's been way too long since I have done any of the small jobs left over, but seeing as the car is coming back soon I figured that I should make a start.

Firstly - I had sanded back the top tailgate, in preparation for painting.. It's been a while and now it is covered in light surface rust..

An hour or so or sanding - and once side clean again:

Next - I was never happy with the paint that the fabricators put on the front window brackets. You can see runs in the paint and also some of the paint has already started to come off - considering these have been sitting in a box inside the shed for a year, I was a tad disappointed.

An hour or so of sanding (in some areas the paint fell off very easily, other areas were harder):

    And now some primer:

Next step is to do the other side of the tailgate - sand & prime.

    Cheers,
    GG.

    A bigger update for today..

The Panel Beater just sent through these pictures...

Remember that it's a closed door re-spray, so technically he didn't have to do anything under the bonnet..

I went and inspected the car this week (the panel beater provided those photos).

They haven’t colour sanded it yet.

I found a few small runs in the paint also - which they will rectify. (As an amateur it kind of made me feel good that the pros make mistakes also).

I am not sure if I would have asked a customer to inspect the car before it was finished though?

They have has the car for a long time with Covid - perhaps they just wanted to show me that they have made some good progress.

    Cleaning

    Hi All,

With the 2DR not far away from returning, and also spurred on by Tom's 81 project - I spent some more time in the shed today.

The sun visors looking a little sad:

    Some elbow grease later:

There is a rubber strip on the tail-gate opening. It's quite a complex shape, and mine was looking very dirty...

A few hours later, cleaning with warm soapy water and a tooth brush:

It's not concourse, and it's not perfect - but it's a lot better than it was.

    Cheers,
    GG.
