I feel for the guy. Who knows how much experience he had or what real condition his let's face it old car was in? Looking at hill I bet most people's adrenalin would be up. Often the only way we learn is by trying and failing. Just sorry his car was wrecked but lucky they were ok

The 10 spline axle could easily have broken on that bounce. But it doesn't look like it as the wheel still had drive, maybe he stuffed his diff. If he was told to pull the hand brake on and wasn't instructed to leave his foot on the brake what would have happened in a Land Rover? It would roll backwards as the transmission brake would not have locked instantly. How many RRC's have a decent working hand brake anyway, especially in reverse.
I'm not saying this is what happened but I sympathize with this guy as it can be conflicting listening to people who drive Toyota's telling you how to drive your Land Rover.
In the end he made a mistake, fortunately it didn't cost anyone's life.
