2 Door - Rear Load Area

    Hi All,

I was wondering what people are doing with their rear load area on their 2 doors.

I plan to sand back any surface rust, and etch prime it. Then paint with sound deadening paint - and then add Dynamat.

My question is - how does the Dynamat go over the rear load area? The floor has the metal channels in it (I'm guessing for strength) - but if I apply Dynamat, how does it look? If I then put carpet over the top of the Dynamat - does it look weird/un-even?

The car came with 2 foam backed, rubber mats that go in that space - but they are (in my eyes) too far gone to re-use..

    What have others done?

    Cheers,

How are the rubber mats? Is it just the foam backing that's had it? Or is the rubber mat buggered too......
From what I've heard, that Dynamat stuff moulds pretty well over irregular floor shapes, but somebody else out there might have some first hand experience of it..

The Dynamat is very flexible and should mould to the channel sections without issue.

Dynamat will be fine, check ebay for a seller called "the mens shed". He sells a product the same as dynamat that is a heap cheaper. I used it in the disco and it looks and feels exactly the same.

For the foam rubber, go to clark rubber, take a piece with you, they have similar stuff.

GG - you're mate who is supposed to be doing the carpets sells Resomat - that's the stuff I've used - considerably cheaper than Dynamat with the same properties.

And of course the panel with corrugations is ally. Note that often all pop rivets holding it in place are how shall we say, in need of replacement?

I usually use this stuff..... More to try and keep the heat out.

EZ Cool Automotive Insulation heat barrier and noise reduction for cars, trucks, classic cars, street rods and much more

Usually very cheap, but the $$$ does suck at the moment. The dollar was almost at parity last time I ordered some in.
