    77 Update

Mike - Nice to see her finally on the road - Yay

As the engine loosens up that fuel consumption may get better .... as Shane has said that's still pretty good for a vehicle
as aerodynamic as a brick towing a trailer.

Luckily ... we don't love them for their fuel efficiency

    Keep the posts coming ...

I'm guessing the month in Mexico has substantially inverted the fuel economy figures?

Or perhaps you got fed up with that front seal and have the box out already...

Hope all is well otherwise and nothing else has reared up and stung you.
Roads?.. Where we're going, we don't need roads...

It’s been a cheap month fuel wise - as I’ve been in KL entire month77 Update. Car covered up and waiting my return. First thing is a repair to roof turret trimmers fitting roof lining had an “oops” moment ran drill up into turret and put a nice pimple in roof which cracked paint and will require lining to be removed roof re painted. Fortunately all covered by their insurance quote accepted. When its being done I’m also going to get rubber surrounds for side windows replaced and new Bailey channel for side windows fitted. I’ve had bits for a while but just getting time to fit 🧐

Fixed the wipers which involved taking bonnet off and decker panel. The circlip on one arm had come off I think the anti rust spray had made it sticky and it worked its way off. Fitted under bonnet insulation while bonnet was off used Australian Car Builders product it was good stuff. Re fitted washer motors for front and rear all working yay! Car booked into Mordy Body works early Sept to get small dent in roof turret fixed. This dent was done by trimmer fitting roof lining. His insurance has covered this. They will also fit new rubbers and bailey channel for side sliding windows. Then off to LRA they will repair the leaking gearbox input shaft. And - went for a Sunday cruise met up with some classic car guys. The RRC got the thumbs up from them.

Been a busy month and some $$ spent. Gearbox input shaft oil leak fixed at Les Richmond’s along with adjusting handbrake light so it goes off when lever is down. Plus a few other odds and ends. I wasn’t happy with what they found wrt to work done by other parties in gearbox rebuild but will wait for the other parties response for time being. Also got the new surround rubbers fitted on rear windows plus new Bailey channel at top of rear sliding windows. They’re much better no rattling. Started on interior fit out this will be a process. Car has its first official function - as wedding car for my daughter in November 77 Update. And I’ve decided that car is too high it has Dobson springs in it that are supposed to give standard ride height but are actually 2”lift. Given my vertically challenged legs it’s too high. And given use of vehicle I think I’ll put the Famous Four springs that give 1” lower than standard.

That is interesting, how will that work? I would have thought the boge leveler would just lift the springs up out of the seats making it very, er, "exciting" to drive as it tripods down the road
