cheers, DL
I had a look at that, quite impressive. I tried that with my rangie,
quickest I could get was 18sec to 100kph and she was screaming!
That defender did it in under 15sec. And that's Matts Car (Rovercare)
What mods have been done to that?
Hey 350RRC
How do I invite Matt (Rovercare) to this thread, would love to pick his brain!
I would like to know his opinion on the LS1 vs 4bd1t
I have seen he has done quite few engine conversions in his time particularly (LS1 and 4BD1T).
cheers Goran
Back to the original topic......... I like the Isuzu concept and I've had a 350 mooring block and C9 auto in my POS for quite awhile.
Recently was in the Grampians with a mate of mine just doing some mild stuff like the Goat Tk, etc, just on the way home really. Low range in second on the way up, same on the way down. Smooth, effortless.
I have this thing set up to suit me. It is comfortable on the road, cheap to run and maintain. No electronics and easy and cheap to fix.
It is comfortable and capable off road as well. I don't do bog holes or rock crawling as a fun thing.
The mate of mine who was in the car has bought a Nissan SWB 82 Patrol with a 3.3 diesel, manual, blah, blah.
Been in it a couple of times going to golf, on the bitumen.
The thing is so crude, harshly sprung and loud it really made me aware of how far ahead LR was with the RRC concept, especially suspension wise.
The harshness of the diesel and having to change gears all the time is something I couldn't do now in a RRC. A 130 maybe, but that's a different kinda deal.
For casual 4wd off road use I would go Chev on gas with an auto. As cheap to run as a diesel, range might be an issue for you. I can get 650 - 700 k's using both gas and petrol without refuelling. Diesel would win if you wanted to go 1000 + k's.
Cruise up hill and down dale!

Hi Vern
I haven't been on for quite while, I see you have converted your softdash!
Well one mate! So you saying your goes even quicker that Matts defender in the video!
Everything go smooth with the conversion?
If you could go back would you stick an LS based motor in it or would still
put a 4bd1t in it? Knowing how it drives now!
buy that way did you ever end up getting a dash grab handle for the softdash?
cheers
Goran
