    Fuel Pressure Regulator

I'm troubleshooting my rich running v8 - how do I test the fuel pressure regulator?

I've read lots of threads which say that when the engine is starved of fuel, it's possibly the fuel pressure regulator failing and the fuel return line stays open. Can it fail such that the pressure regulation fails and fuel pours through it to the injectors?

My next thought is this - if it has failed open, if I install an in line pressure regulator instead of replacing the original one - should that do the job/work?

You're quite correct that a fuel pressure regulator can fail in various ways. I've fitted a couple of adjustable regs with a gauge on them, makes fine adjustment possible. Any boy racer shop should be able to sell you a blingy regulator suitable for the job.

    Example:

Adjustable Rising rate FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR Universal kit Gauge 1/8 NPT Chrom | eBay
