Just to finish this up, the poor old thing was delivered yesterday. It is beyond getting back onto the road, (it's probably possible but it would be a huge job), so it's a parts car. I really think Kon made the right decision to move it on, and full marks to him for giving it away instead of just taking some bits off and dumping it at the tip, which many people would have done. (Though given the low demand for these things up here, sometimes there's no choice.) What I paid for freight was probably more than I would have paid for it if it was just sitting around the corner, but old Rangies don't turn up much any more, so it was worth taking the chance.
So a big Thank You to Kon, and as for me, I've got my work cut out!
