    handbrake stuck

    Hi All,

I just picked up a '89 RRC (auto), and just after parking it up, the handbrake has become stuck, it's totally unmovable and currently in the lowered position... currently in park

Is there something fundamental I'm doing wrong, or do I need to dig deeper?

Presumably just changing the hand brake cable is the solution, or are there other common problems that may cause this?

    Thanks..

I suspect you have the answer - the most likely issue is the cable. There is a slight possibility that the expander has rusted up if it has been standing with the brake on for a long time, or even some other very rare faults.

thanks, after a bit of playing around (mostly by changing to low range).. it managed to free up and got it moving, will have another look at the cable, I suspect it's been sitting up a while..
