The only thing I have to check now is for dust, I'll get around to that directly, I remain very confident though.

    Thanks for the advise Blokes.
    Ha ha! what an optimist.

On corrugations the tailgate will still vibrate enough for significant dust to get in, and it will accumulate on top of the rubber strip and the top of the tailgate only to give you a nice shower as you open it.
At one stage I had a dust pan brush handy to sweep away as much as possible, and even an air tank and nozzle.

You can reduce dust entry by blocking off the vents in each c pillar with duct tape and running the air conditioning or fan if cool on "fresh" which pressurizes the cabin and reduces dust entry. Also do not assume that there is plastic film behind the door trims, and there are several open holes in the inner guards at the back which should be sealed

I had my SWMBO trained well to swing from "fresh" to "recirc" as cars approached and then back to fresh as the air cleared.

They all do it don't they?
I believe there is a very high percentage out there that do and mine is no different.
So what I would like to know, is there anyone out there that has fixed the problem of
    1/ the window popping open?
2/ And even when closed properly, how to stop the exhaust fumes and dust being sucked back into the cab area?
I know about turning on the outside air and pressurizing the cab with the fan but there must be another way around the problem.
If you have any success with curing this problem can you please share your secret with me and many others that are suffering from the same dilemma?

    Regards:-

there is a far simpler solution to the rear tailgate popping open by reversing the air rams. File is too big to upload here at about a dozen small pics but only 904KB, so PM me an email address and I'll send it down - worked a treat on my ali upper.

    "OPTIMIST, WHO ME"?

Yeah well, it comes with being a Disco, Rangie and Series owner for the last 30? years.
But I love em, and not like a lot of other owners are proud to admit the fact.
I mean what other vehicle could you own where you can learn so much about every little thingy on them. All you need to do is pull it apart and put it back together again, not because it was broken in the first place (Ah Hem) but purely for the fact that you enjoy clamering underneath an oily grease infested rig so much so that you just feel the need to educate the neighbours with new and colourful descriptions of words from the English, Dutch, French, Scandernavian, Arabic and even American or whatever language you choose to use on any given day.

    "Waffle" You bet it is.
