I like aviation sealant (loctite no. 3) for doing water pumps or any paper gaskets

For piece of mind .... get that radiator 'rodded'... my experiance with flushing them is it does NOTHING. It might cost $$$ (yes I don't have any of them either) but it could save you an enormous amount of grief. I think last time i check it was about $80.... Money well spent

    seeya,

I used to do mine every year when I was living in Brisbane, with the QLD heat and regular off-road work it saved me a few head gaskets over the journey. Agree money well spent.

    Small Update

    Hi All,

I was already thinking about having the radiator professionaly cleaned - but when I read the below suggestions (and knowing that Rangie's have a tendency to run hot) - I dropped off the radiator to be tested/cleaned/rodded. Total cost of $140, including paint - and a 4 day turn around... So while that's away (and I'm waiting for other parts) - I've been busy cleaning, cleaning, cleaning - and doing some more cleaning..

This is what the front of the chassis looked like (before):

    And after:

I have started cleaning up the engine bay:

All of these parts have been cleaned, ready to go back on:

The front grill was looking tired:

So I washed it with soapy water, dried it with a clean cloth, the cleaned it with a scotch brite, rinsed it with clean water, dried it, and painted it...

I have a lot more cleaning to do - which I plan to do while I'm waiting for all of the parts to arrive...

    Cheers,
    GG.
