    Classic vs disco 1

Ok, total unawareness on the subject, but does the RRC and the disco 1 share chassis and suspension bushes, running gear? Same motor and transfer cases, so I'm assuming that the rest would be the same?
I know that the RRC is a bit more plush in the springs but I'm going to cross pollinate if they are a match as I have a disco donor for pilfering as I see fit.

First cab etc. My understanding is they are pretty much interchangeable. In fact, there was a recent thread here about some mob in the UK who grafted a RRC front onto a D1 body, or was it the other way around? The main differences were in the engines etc.

I am sure wiser folk than me can narrow down the detail, but that's my understanding.

There are a lot of similarities but quite a few differences too, mainly because the model year ranges are different. From 1989 all RRC ran a viscous transfer case instead of the LT230 for example. Braking systems are quite different, RRC ran dual line front calipers and a weird hydraulic ABS, although all D1 bits will bolt on to the later RRC, losing the horribly expensive to fix ABS. The last model RRC, the 1994 "soft dash" model is more like a D1 than any of the others. Large numbers of bits interchange on these last RRC's with the D1 update. A 300TDi conversion on a soft dash for example is 99% plug and play except for the engine mounts on the chassis. Early RRC's had variations in axles, bearings, bushes etc compared to later ones but you can bolt in complete D1 assemblies from memory.

Thanks guys, I had a feeling that the platform was similar with the various difference in bodywork and brake lines layout.
I'm glad to hear that it takes a disco brake set up as that's one of the things I have planned to transplant over.
