    Fog Light Wiring

Can anyone tell me if the unused round plugs below the headlights on each side are where the factory fog lights would connect to? I would like to use them to run driving lights, but I didn't get 12V to any of the pins when I pressed the fog light button on the dash.

I just want to know if i need to do some troubleshooting as to why there is no power to the plug, or if I am barking up the wrong tree and those connectors are for something else...

Man I wish that the wiring diagrams had connector location illustrations...

    What year is this RRC?

In the older ones the switch behind the wiper switch on the LHS of the steering wheel supplies the power for aux lighting.

    Switch upright: off

Switch central posi: one fog lamp, LH, headlights must be on.

Switch down posi: both fogs and driving lights on, parkers or headlights must be on.

I've got mine wired so that this switch will only have power in the 'driving lights on' position when high beam is on. Not using fogs.

Are the wires to these plugs blue with yellow trace and red with yellow trace?

If so you should really use one or the other of these to switch a decent relay with a mofo fused power wire to get the most out of driving lights.

On a 91 in Australia there is a block of switches over the centre console. One of those switches is for DRIVING LIGHTS and the plugs will only have power on high beam.
If yours is a "real" 89 ,ie a 3.9 it should be the same. I don't know about 88 models (sometimes optimistically called 89s in Australia) which would be 3.5.

The wiring is different for UK delivered ones and the under bumper lights are fog lights, so if it is a private import they will be fog lights and only come on on low beam. Long ago there was a sheet somewhere which showed how to convert the switch from Fog light to driving lights (for UK)

The plugs for both configurations are behind the switch block.

It's an 89 model with a 3.9 V8. Not sure if its a private import or not. The fog light switch is to the right of the heater controls.

I think there may have been a driving light switch there as well, although there was definitely an unused plug behind these switches. I will have to check it out this weekend.
I will have a play and check if i get power to the plug in Low and High beam positions. It sounds like these plugs should be something to do with the switch though, good to know that I m barking up the right tree after all.

I will have a search to see if I can find this sheet about converting fogs to driving lights.

It's only a matter of swapping the plugs .
    I remembered after I signed.
