    RR classic winch

I have bought a RR 2 door that is fitted with a Thomas PTO winch and an aluminium opposite lock bullbar.
How practicle is a PTO driven winch? My preferance would be to refit the original bar and remove the winch and bullbar, maybe fit an overdrive where the winch is driven. My plans are more softroading, nothing extreme.
    Remove or keep?

I'd love to see a picture of that setup! There is something that appeals about PTO winches! (I'm guessing they aren't much good if you stall the motor out in water etc ...).

PTO winches are great - instantly available with a range of rewind speeds and a couple of reverse speeds for lowering. DC outlines the obvious downside above. No batteries, wiring, fuses, solenoids or remotes to let you down.

If you haven't already got your overdrive it could be hard to find one.

I would think that a PTO winch with ancillaries would be an attraction to others and would be quite saleable.

The question you have to think about is whether you replace the TC mods that go with it - any buyer would need them if they are reinstalling it in a similar LR.

If it was mine the winch would be staying with the vehicle and maintained (lube box & cable) to be available for use if ever required .

For your own safety, get hold of the instructions before you try it.
