To hold stuff together (like using another pair of hands) I use a variety of different size plastic spring clamps. They're black with orange grip pads, look like welding clamps and cost jack from $2 shops. Get them in packets of 10 usually.
You just clamp 2 pieces together using some backing which can be flat, curved or angled and do whatever you have to.
I use marine ply instead of MDF for door cards and stuff like that. MDF absorbs moisture from the air and gradually distorts and expands. I figure if I'm going to the trouble of fabbing something to look good and function well in an interior it may as well keep doing it for a looong time. Because the size of pieces that get used in an interior is quite small the extra cost is not that great.

I was going to try ply first. There is quite a few bends in the console, so I will see if ply is flexible enough to twist angle up into the box at the back. MDF is horrible stuff in everyway. Its not nice for your health cutting or dealing with it either.
