    Hoodlining idea's / help

    Gday All,

The hood lining was sagging like all L/R - R/R it seems , so decided to pull it down. I found that the sun roof must have been non genuine and the hood liner mold ( guess thats what you it ) has been cut and tossed where the sun roof sits.
So instead of cutting the hole for the sunroof in the mold , what i have is a piece that goes across the front windscreen and back to about the gear lever then the rear piece that comes from the tail gate to about the front of the back seats . It seems as tho they fitted some thin foam around the sunroof after install then glued the fabric to this.

Will see what a motor trimmer says but has anyone come across this and what did you do to fit new fabric .

    Cheers Ean

If the sunroof leaks ..... Its probably best to find a roof without a hole cut in it ... and fit that

No leaks , and very clean and tidy , even the drains are clean and clear , just need to work out how to refit the fabric. Was going to do it myself but may be a job for the professionals.

Not necessarily saying that it is an ideal solution, but the latest issue of LandRover Owner has an article in which a restorer removed the sagged material and painted the bare roof liner before reinstalling - looked OK but ...

It sounds like he doesn't have the headlining shell though ................... He has it easy either way. He can just unbolt the roof and turn it over .... and glue on whatever lining he likes with the roof "the right way up"

That's the word I was looking for . The hoodlining shell has been chopped and the piece that fits from the front seats to the back seats is missing.

I could something similar to what Bushman done to the roof of his Defender , but wondered if anyone had any idea's. I am looking at most likely making a piece out of ply or similar for the area that's missing and using a carpet or similar and fitting it in situ. just need to look at what type of glue might work.

    ....
As I remember it, the shell was a two piece design. A front 'half' and a rear half. One the halfs overlapped the other and there were large clips that held both (overlapped) pieces up at approx the centre of the roof.
