One for brains trust diff lockers

One thing I know nil of history is diffs in my RRC. I’ve noticed that when first driving off if front wheels are turned hard there’s an loud clunk from front. C/vs are good etc. It’s only once. Then today with hard slow u turn rear diff locked up I got a chirp from rear tyres. So I think at some point lockers - like Detroit or Ashcroft- might have been fitted. Question is - how to check? And what oil should be used if there’s lockers in there’s? I’ve got standard diff oil in. FYI when it’s on stands they all act like open diffs. ThanksOne for brains trust diff lockers

Drop the diff heads out and have a look. Shouldn't take long if you have a decent trolley jack and safety stands and basic tool kit. If you have a Salisbury it is easy. Take off the back cover and have a look.

Have you considered if the front radius arms need to have the bolts tightened on the axle?

They’re not Salisbury’s. Cars going to Mechanic tomorrow for RWC then load her up point it south and drive to Melbourne. Towing a smallish trailer. What could possibly go wrong? But - bit time poor at moment so won’t be dropping diffs unless they’ve like - exploded or failed. In a straight line on highway at oh I don’t know let’s say 120kmh - all good. It’s just on first turn and very tight u turn driveline seems to bind up.

Looking back at your build thread I see it has an LT95.

It is possible your CDL is locked. Doesn't matter if the light is on or not, it might be locked and cause your symptoms.

Happened to me yonks ago and was the reason I joined Aulro. Have a look at my first post and the thread its in.

Weird tyre wear is a symptom of this.

Dunno what else it could be apart from a seized diff centre or sticking handbrake (don't laugh).

    cheers, DL
