If money was no object.... You wouldn't even haggle ... You can't find another like it at pretty much any price. For those who think they could get one "built" for less. Unlikely... and you'll have probably a 5 year wait for something that may not be what you hoped for when completed.

LOL ... You could buy a new Range Rover cheaper. That has to be the best comment I've ever seen on here. Generally someone that is interested in the oldies, holds little (if any) interest in owning something plastic and new.

I know that dealer.... been there before a few times. Certainly has a good detailer working for them, some really ratty cars come out looking like new. take about 25K off the price, factor that 25K into the money you'll need to spend to get it to the price you just paid for it...
If we go on "market" then Your resto is worth double his asking price. Don't fool yourself.

I agree with your first point though. You'll never get back what you put into it, so why not just drive the heck out of it and enjoy it.

I think the restoration looks to have been done properly (not sure about the steering wheel though), and price wise it is cheaper than Land Rover would charge for their Land Rover Reborn cars. This Bloomberg article says they start from GBP 135,000

Well if this is Antique Roadshow all well and good.

A really, really good resto will have all the 'quirky' faults faithfully incorporated into the end result.

Things like oil pumps that lose their prime, a 4 speed truck like gearbox that came from a light gun carrier, axles that are most often compared with cheese sticks, diff centres so weak they needed both diffs working in tandem.

Then we get to the quality of the wiring. A really good resto will have the original brittle stuff in the engine bay that just.............. does it's thing.

A headlight switch that is destined for a short life by not using relays.

3 fuses for everything (and one is a spare).

A transfer box mount that (supposedly) requires dash, heater, seats, floor removal to change.

Agree with this..... I used to have an 'oldie' ('85 RRC) and now have 'something plastic and new' . Only my opinion, but.... If somebody offered to swap their fully restored 'oldie' for my 'something plastic and new' they would have to throw in an additional $100k so I could buy another 'something plastic and new' . [biggrin]
