There was one of those in a 2 door I sold recently and I reckon the return line 'spigot' was in the same place as the stock steel tank.

Dunno why they rust, but they do with the stock tanks.

I’m not using fuel return line as with Carter 4070 fuel pump plus edelbrock 500- no need. Makes it a bit simpler. Re rust that’s where any water/condensation would sit - you’d figureFuel consumption

    Km/l: 4.57
    l/100km: 21.89
    MPG: 12.9
    Range: 584.63 (138L tank).

As a matter of interest, when I converted it to an HS2.8 diesel, the average was 13.5 l/100km. Power was about the same as the 3.9 but of course the torque was double.
Your figures are pretty well the same as the Lady Sarah gave me, when we were together...

Gavin's "Bessie", LSE with D2/TD5 transplant is a much more civilized car to drive, - and re-fuel.

I would give it a good service (all oils and filters, spark plugs and HTC leads). Also check that your vacuum advance is working - mine wasn’t (‘90 SE) and it was running rich... Every little bit helps...

    Mind you my 101 gets 25+ L/100...

I suspect my float might be busted too. Cause everyone I fill it only takes between 50-59 litres. Light came on at 175km (I know right) it was at about 1/4. Drove it to 195km which was just under 1/4. Filled to full. 54 litres.
