1988 Range Rover 3.5 EFI and VL Commodore RB30 Fuel Injectors

I have been told that the VL Commodore RB30 engine fuel injectors are the same as the 1988 3.5 litre EFI Range Rover. Does anyone know if this is correct?

None of them are the "hose" type fitted to a 3.5
I also understand that a Datsun 260Z/280Z or whatever model has injectors has the same injectors.(so it is very possible the 3litre Holden has them)
You have to match the "pounds per hour" of the injectors. AFAIR the 3.9 injectors are 22.5 lbs per hour so the 3.5 injectors will be the same or less , maybe 18lbs per hour.
Another car to use similar injectors is a jag V12, the failure of the hoses a prime cause of the many engine fires.

Injector Planet | Lucas 01D108B fuel injector – INJECTOR PLANET CORP.

my thinking was that it's an EV1 type bosch / lucas unit similar to ljetronic / djetronic

you'll need to search with the part number from the existing injector.

    Yes.. this is true.

The standard RB30 ones are slightly higher capacity than the original and the turbo ones even bigger again.

The biggest difference between them is the spray pattern. Standard ones are a pencil stream, where the RB ones are a 4 stream spray. I don't know if this difference has made a performance effect on mine yet as I'm very sure the cam is pretty well buggered.

One thing I will add is the standards are a 3ohm and the RB ones are a 2ohm. I am hoping this doesn't have an effect on the ECU.

You will still be lucky to find them at a cheaper price than originals.

Also to note, changing fuel rail and injector type to the "Hotwire" style isn't possible. Tooany differences.

Have you found that the 2 ohm RB30 injectors are working properly and did it make any difference to performance? I have 8 of the RB30 non-turbo injectors and are thinking about installing them on the Range Rover, but if they are no better than the standard Range Rover injectors I wont.

They are working properly. They do respond to a bit of extra fuel pressure for smoother acceleration. But performance wise, I honestly haven't noticed a difference. Same with economy. It's running about 18-21 L/100 the last time I used it over a working week, a 160km trip of open road, traffic and a couple of big hills. This is a massive improvement over the "start it and the tank is empty" that occured when I was having ECU dramas (I had a whole thread about it).

I believe that with a top end refresh and a new cam, the better spray pattern of the RB30 injectors (better atomisation) and a touch of increased fuel pressure, it will be a smoother, torqueyer drive.

    Feel free to inbox me.
