I note that the manual for the 3.9 EFI RRC prescribes use of a resistor plug (Champion RN11Y)- equivalent to NGK BPR5ES.
Is it OK to use a non-resistor plug (eg NGK BP5ES)? What is the purpose of the resistor?

as long as the plug length (reach), thread pitch and size as well as the heat range match, you should be ok.

run em, but stand by to add a filtering cap to either the coil/points or to burn out the condensor.

You may of course elicit road rage from some snowy headed bloke who likes listening to AM radio when you are in traffic.
Really there is no advantage in using non resistor plugs.
You may as well get some copper cored leads also and go the whole hog and block out TV for 100s of metres.
Get with the times and use resistor plugs and good quality leads .
