OK, so back on topic.
My RRC is getting there - now my work, tow and holiday vehicle. After rescuing it from a barn nearly 3 years ago from a family friend, it took me 2 of those years to get it back on the road. The most needy (and partly tedious, but possible thanks to a whole donor vehicle) jobs were the replacement of the ABS brakes to standard (pump was a goner), upper tailgate replacement and one rust hole in the floor on the driver's side, sealing up all the oil and coolant leaks in just about everything - the more satisfying tasks were to transfer all the nice stuff from my now very sad D1 - 2" springs and Bilsteins, HD cranked trailing arms, front bash plate, diff guards, whole rear axle (mainly as the brakes were newish on the D1), Gotti wheels, on board compressor, etc. I also rebuilt the front calipers and installed DBA rotors. Since I got it on the road just before the end of last year, I have put in Falcon electric fans, 100amp alternator, water pump, fully built out the back for work and trips, made a couple roof bars as an interim to something better so I could carry long materials. Today I just finished installing the Ashcroft rear locker I had sitting on the shelf which was intended for the D1, as well as the Ashcroft HD axles I found on ebay last year. Soon hopefully the Long Ranger fuel tank from the D1 so I can go more than 300km ish before stopping (the main thing I miss from the TDi is range, but the V8 RRC sounds, feels and runs so nice its worth it). The set of mud terrains on steel wheels and the spare wheel carrier are all in the garage and set to go for a trip somewhere. A few photos attached.
