    3.9 SERP belt rebuild camshaft specs?

    Rebuilding a 3.9 SERP belt late model interim block for 94 classic.
    I bought a cam from a reputable maker.
    His work is good,having used a stage two cam in a classic previously,rocked .
    He informed me the specs on his cam card are the same between 3.5/3.9 with the only difference being the machining of the cam for the thrust plate on the 3.9?
    My research on cam specs,standard profiles, using available land rover part numbers,has me failing to find an oem match for this cam card.
    The closest I can find is the 3.5 efi cam and not sure if that’s necessarily the best match to use with my new build 3.9 auto.
    Had a look at etc 6850,etc6849,Etc6099,and couldn’t find details for err5924.

    Not pretending to know camshaft details bar the basics..
    Targeting standard smooth idle profile on this build.
    Cam details below,appreciate any input here.
    Dilemma is using this quality well made cam versus obtaining a generic err5924 which is listed as correct for an auto 3.9 efi high comp.
    Wary of so called oem offshore suppliers re quality these days,thoughts,experience and opinions welcomed.

    I think your cam guy is correct - the grind specs. for the 3.5 and 3.9 are the same except for the nose to accept the thrust plate.

    From my bit of research, the cam specs between a 3.5 and 3.9 are near identical. The only thing I found different was the lobe seperation angle (I think). It was this difference that created the "extra" torque. But the 3.5 wouldn't idle as smooth without playing with idle and flapper settings.

    The below specs are for the 3.9.

    I'm more inclined to ask what are you trying to achieve?

    torque, or RPM, high vacuum or performance?

    Further to this,I contacted my cam guy,and asked specifically the grind for this cam.
    He came back as saying it was originally made for the 3.5 pre pollution vehicles but worked across the board.
    I did express some concern that one shoe may not fit all,with obvious differences in open/close ,duration etc as the rover v8 was refined over the years.
    He agreed,and is happy to make me up a new cam to better suit the late model 3.9 SERP efi auto.
    So will provide him the figures I found for the standard err5924 which seems to have been advanced an additional 2 degrees from the earlier 3.9 etc8686 efi cam.

    Just an observation,the duration for this standard landrover cam is quite high at 285,but what do I know.

    Re the lobe separation,I thought so too,,and assumed a 112 cam vs lsa 109 would be of benefit for lowdown torque,better vacuum and smooth idle.

    Subsequently learning how to find the lobe separation angle ,I see the standard cams are all 109 Degrees lsa,so all good, as the low down torque is what many of us enjoy in the rover v8 and seems to work nicely without going away from standard profile territory.

    To check your LSA you calculate it by adding the intake and exhaust Lobe Centerline figures together and dividing their sum by two (Ex: 112 intake Centerline + 116 exhaust Centerline = 228 / 2 = 114-degree LOBE SEPARATION ANGLE).

    So from the rave snap kindly posted above
    104+114 = 118/2 = 109 degree lobe separation angle.

    My understanding has always been that a 3.9 cam has the same profile as a 3.5 injection but the cam is advanced by 5 degrees.
