    82 RRC 2-Door Restomod

Hi forum. Just joined aulro today, but have been fixing my RRC for nearly 13 years, so thought it was time to join the forum. Here are some pics of my project.

4.6 with Motec EFI from Coopers
Ashcrofts ZF 4HP22 with uprated 24 internals
    Ashcrofts ATB centre diff
Ashcrofts custom 1.1 ratio transfer case gears.

I'm looking for a floor pan from one of the early ZF autos and the shifter and centre console.

Hi, and welcome. Good looking project great to see another 2Door on it's way back. I have an 81 as a daily with a 300tdi and ZF auto. Have been looking to get Auto refurbished still works fine, but worried as KMs are very high was wondering what the Ashcroft cost, checked out A&B Trans in Melb and they want $3950 to reco with upgraded internals. Also are you planning to return old Trans or is not worth the expense.
    Cheers Joe

You'll have cut the floor out as they went to a welded floor pan in the PHII models from late 84.

When I did the tdi conversion, we cut the top off the donor disco transmission hump, same on the Rangie. Then sealed and screwed the disco one on top as R380 was taller than lt95. The mounting bracket was then there to fit the modified disco console.

    Update

Thanks for the responses, and sorry I've been slack in getting back to you.

The Ashcroft ZF with transfer case, ATB centre diff and custom 1.1 ratios cost around AUD$6,000 all up, but might be cheaper now as the exchange rates have moved quite a bit since I ordered mine. It was replacing an LT230 and is a bit different in length so I had to get some drive shafts from a disco that were the right length. While I was at it, I also put detroit true-track gear type LSD centres in the front and rear diffs. Should be absolutely no backlash in the drive train now fingers crossed.

Thanks LoanRangie for the advice on the floor plan. I've been looking around to try and find a late 80s 4-door auto as a donor car, but am having trouble finding one. If you know of anyone who has one that they would be willing to sell, do let me know.

I might be back to custom fabricating a new transmission tunnel if I can't find one, And will still need to find a ZF shifter and centre console...

Getting the electrics sorted out at the moment, will be great to actually be able to fire the 4.6 up and hear it run again.
