I'm thinking low milage rather than rebuilt. You see it was covered with 20years of grime ... the gaskets in the top end were like concrete and leaking. The cam is weirdly eroded (but had excellent lift as measured at the lifters) so I left alone. Oh, the engine number shows its for an automatic. So I'm guessing it was a replacement engine fitted to your parts car ( as it was fitted with a flywheel/clutch)

For the first time ever, I don't appear to be loosing coolant. It looks like every range rover I've owned has lost coolant from the inlet manifold (very hard to find, no evidence of leaks ... or burning coolant .... but a good cup full of coolant disappearing each fortnight).

Things like all the spark plug lead brackets are still there (ie: they aren't brittle and broken off) leads me to think lower milage rather than rebuilt.
