As an adjunct to your discussion about RRC springs, I have found this: BOGE Self Levelling Unit | Kingsley Cars
Kingsley as I expect you know do very expensive restorations of Range Rover Classics.
I was quite excited as I have a 1981 RRC that I’m about to start reconditioning until I saw the price. There has to be another way, if Kingsley can do it surely it could be done closer to home?
Hi Shortshank, that does seem a bit over the top, but as they have to specially manufacture the replacement parts and for such a low volume item it’s to be expected.
The hydromat on my car looks to be OK and still holds pressure as I was replacing the springs with the FF -1” ones on the weekend.
Before
Attachment 175454
After
Attachment 175455
Its now 65mm lower at the rear and 60mm at the front.
I’ll have to remove the hydromat so the it isn’t constantly trying to raise the rear back to the standard height.
If you're happy with the height you don't need the hydromat.
My POS came with a 2" spring lift and no hydromat. No probs at all for a lot of k's.
Then I got another parts 2 door for a 'respray' (body swap) that had one so I put it in mine........just coz.
Makes no difference until it is really loaded up and then it will lift the rear to stock height.
