I pulled a couple of lights out and they are complete units with a bulb soldered in. It looks like an LED. To check that it was working I connected it across the battery and nothing happened. Reversed it and on it came, so they must be polarity sensitive, but there is nothing to ensure you fit it back in the right way around.
According to the parts book the holder uses 3W capless (wedge) bulbs, but clearly not in my RRC.
Best I could do with my phone.

If you glass it (even with epoxy) just be knowing that every square cm you want it to stick MUST be sanded. 120 to 180 grit would be best.

I used a powerfile and a dremel like thing for the corners.

On another note............. if the backing of the binnacle was loose at the top then most likely it was not clipped in.

    cheers, DL

Re my earlier post on the actual bulb units - I should clarify my car is an 88 Highline, and now I see the back of your dashboard I see it's very different to mine - see attached (noting I had already removed the red plastic bulb holder for the ignition warning lamp when I took the photo). I also attach a couple of photos of the one piece replacement bulb units (incandescent) that my model requires, for general interest - part no ADU6262L.

Had another look at the bulbs and holders today.
A PO has only changed the two indicator bulbs to LED and they are green ones as well, all the rest are the normal wedge incandescent bulbs.
I’m tempted to see if I can unsolder them and have consistent holders and bulbs. Makes maintenance simpler.

The original owner's manual says the bulbs are 2w. I've bought them before (20 years ago) from a normal servo.

Can probably spare a couple of holders if you can't find any in Sydney.

Very kind of you 350RRC, I’ll see how I go sourcing locally but Rimmer Bros have them on their site.
In the spare parts manual it lists the bulbs a 3W.

I tried the Hazard Flasher today and nothing worked.
Pulled the switch out for a closer look and screwed the knob off to check the light.
Well the light was there and it tested ok on a battery, but I couldn’t see how it was held in place.
Looked in my workshop manual and there should be a spring that pushes the bulb down onto its earth contact. Item 3 below.

Unfortunately this is not shown as a seperate part in the spare parts manual.
What have others done if you loose this spring.
And, should the hazard flashers work without the light and spring in the switch ?

Find a torch or an old TV remote control and use the battery contact spring

Hazards work on mine, ign off, globe removed.

The contacts in the switch get filthy with dust which can cause some lights not to work.

Mine runs on a separate flasher can, dunno if that's stock.

    Give that man a trophy.
Well Bradtot I didn’t have a remote so I bought a AAA battery holder from J-Car

Pulled one of the springs out and it was a neat fit inside the knob of the Emergency flasher switch.

Connected to a battery to test and “bingo” light works.

Just need to install the switch and see if all the blinkers flash.
