    Lt95 transfer box lever

Another problem, more questions, thank goodness for AULRO and the smart people on it!
The shift lever for hi/lo on my Rangie has gone floppy. From reading past posts it seems probable the culprit is a spacer on the cross shaft that has self-destructed, and there are two possible fixes; replace the spacer with a metal one, or use washers and a split pin on the other end of the shaft to locate it in the right place. The posts I found related to 110’s or Defenders; question one is can I do the washer solution on a 2 door Rangie without removing the floor ( and half the interior to get to it), and secondly, has anyone got the dimensions for the spacer?
    Thanks,
    Woolly.

    Washers and split pin!!!

Legendary 5 minute fix from underneath, easy peasy. Just keep putting washers on till the slop goes from memory.

Bearman came up with this one.

    cheers, DL

Done and dusted! Took a little bit longer than five minutes, but I didn’t have to get underneath; mine has an access plate on the transmission tunnel directly above the left hand end of the cross shaft which made it very easy to work on. It’s almost as if Land Rover knew their crappy spacers would fail and had worked out a simple fix for an unnecessary problem so they could charge customers a bit more. However, it’s nice to have something easy to fix for a change, but it would have taken a lot longer without help from the forum, so, many thanks again.
    Cheers,
    Woolly
