Drove the car yesterday without the horn on the front of the air box. Not really sure if it went better but certainly wasn’t worse.
I have the flapper style air flow meter, I zip tied the flap in the open position and ran it on LPG with the air filter in place. The wideband O2 sensor indicated that with it open the mixture leaned right out to 17.5:1 or over (from 15:1) and the idle dropped 500rpm.
I have a BLOS LPG mixer between the air flow meter and the throttle body. Tuned the mixture and idle to suit the flap all the way open and it ran better (and sounded better). This, to me, suggests that the flap is causing a large restriction. I can’t leave the flap open as I start the car on petrol then switch to LPG.
Many years ago I saw a device called a “Flap Opener” for sale from a company in England. Maybe if I get one of them and run the car with the flap fully open when running LPG, it may help with the restriction caused by the flap. Does anyone know where I could source one of the flap openers?
Would like to get the flap issue sorted before I do anything with a pod filter.
