    Shane,

Sorry for the late reply - had too much on my plate work wise..

    Rrc dizzy module values
    Ign off-
    Pin 3-gnd 63.1kΩ
    Pin 7-gnd 66.0kΩ
    Pin 15-gnd 12.2Ω
    Pin 16- gnd 12.6Ω

Reluctor - out of circuit (across pins) 3.631 kΩ - I have added some longer tails to the cable than what was on previous dizzy, so it's almost he same

Voltages are all within spec. 13.6 from pin 15-gnd when engine running.

Roads?.. Where we're going, we don't need roads...

What a week ..... This must have been the most "fun" week of my life. Anyway, one morning we were runninig late to go upto the hospital and the ****box refused to start ..... Aarrrrrhhh, no time to look at other cars around the yard, so we pile into my daughters little C2 and head up there ( no time to think about other cars and the two door poogoe rcz is no good for four "big" adults). Anyway, I just went out and found the damn thing still won't start .... YES >>>> FINALLY ... the damn thing is still broken when I have 20minutes to look at it.

I can't thank you enough for the values above. I whipped the dizzie out and pulled the lucas ignition module off the side of the dizzie. It only has two connectors so your car uses a different ignition module. Anyway, the reluctor coil is open circuit .... infinity ohms Which is bloody fantastic, it has stayed "broken" long enough for me to find the exact issue. I have a reluctor that measure 2300ohms in the dead motor in the shed, so I'll just fit that and re-time it and we should be away

Shane, glad you found the source of your issue.

My module is the bee-utey relocation edition, with the 2 pin reluctor and the 4 pin BIM024 - aka Bosch 021 for HEI holden / ford.

You can get a tridon equivalent and also repco have them, if you're stuck for modules... reluctors - you'll need to pull someone elses dizzy from a later rrc/disco if you end up with another dud. Keeping a spare = essential.

Can't believe it's the season for failing reluctors.

I was just trying to find a spare reluctor online. What do the parts supplier call those things? I've tried "pickup" and "reluctor"..... and you know, I can't find really anything.

    seeya,

PS: Oh, did you have the details for the Bee-utey upgrade? I do have two working lucas modules here ... but I'm thinking everything is going to die at a similar age

Shane, You'll have to scout around for a Dizzy from an RRC, D1 or D2 or a P38 pre-thor. I got a spare up here with a used cap and leads for a hundred bucks. Probably a bit overpriced but I wasn't arguing at the time - the market for parts up here is vastly different and time was more important.

remember you'll have to change over the dizzy gear if your engine oil pump drive is taken from the bottom of the dizzy.
check freeplay in the shaft. super important that the shaft isn't flogged out in the housing, or you're wasting your time with it.

While you're at it, pull the spare to bits, clean it out, check the advance weights and springs, drill out the shaft and tap the hole for the upper shaft/rotor mod and lube everything properly with correct amount of grease (i.e. not too much) and that thing will be golden for ages.

Yes i will have to chase up a spare .....

the ****box is back to doing ****box things. You gotta love google maps, i picked this up in geelong today and google maps found me a way home i've never taken before. great empty roads that aren't stuffed ..... 25minutes out of geelong .... I get told to turn left ahead .... seeing a "steep decent" sign .... hmmm.... bloody google maps has done it again right?? So I keep going and crest a small crest .... Holly crap. I slow down and grab 1st gear .... it instantly runs away under engine braking even in first, so I keep cycling the brakes on/off until we get to the bottom. Where there is down there is up right? So we keep going, 3rd.... 2nd..... and I grab 1st and give it everything as I'm amazed at the gradient that appears infront of me. My father looks over and says "this thing has a low range transfer casen right ??"

Oh well, back tomorrow to pick up the 2nd load of scrap metal (aka: parts cars I'm probably insane for picking up).

If you're picking up "scrap" metal in the form of a DS, then the POS is absolutely not going to embarrass itself in front of the Saint-Sauvant.

It'll probably run fine until it thinks it is safe from the scrapheap itself - so give it about 3-4 weeks before it gets the ouiga board out and contacts the Prince of Darkness again.
