Thread: Central locking / alarm / immobilizer malfunction

Hi all - I've got a 1993 RRC with some erratic central locking / alarm / immobilizer activity. Essentially, when I use the fob to unlock, the car goes into a repeated cycle of lock / unlock / lock / unlock etc - typically with the alarm sounding, until I hit the key fob button again and it stops (either on lock or unlock - depending on my timing when I hit the button).

That has been happening for a month or so which is a pain.

The cars new trick however is that it wont start. The dash lights, aircon etc come on, but when you go to start, there is absolutely nothing - starter doesn't even try. I'm assuming this is the immobilizer and its connected to the above.

Any thoughts or suggestions on issue or what I should try to get it going again?

I have a complete Rovacom lite kit, including the instructional CD, plugs and cable.

This was the diagnostic tool for these things back in the day. It'll cost you a slab, pm if interested.

Thanks David. Turns out with a fully charged battery - the issues went away. On to the next problem
