    Bonnet latch issue

So I closed the bonnet on the RRC (1986 model) and it isn稚 opening again - but everything is moving smoothly and we値l lubricated. Thankfully the grill is out at the moment so easy access and the block the cable pulls is moving all the way to its stop so I知 a bit stumped at why the bonnet won稚 open. The catch in the bonnet was also well lubed and working well - I知 assuming the block that slides on the latch from the cable has a cutout that catches the bonnet latch and the cable moves this across to a full hole for the bonnet section to come out of?

    Any ideas?

    TIA
If you need to contact me please email [email protected] - thanks - Gav.

Get someone to press down on the front of the bonnet while you pull the release cable

If that doesn't work the knob on the 'pin' in the bonnet is catching on the flange of the latch so the bonnet needs to be moved side to side, or fore and aft, at the front by whatever means you're comfortable with, while you pull the release cable.

This is the most likely cause. From memory both the bonnet pin and the latch locations are adjustable and the wear marks on both tell you which way to rectify this issue.

    cheers, DL

I had the exact opposite problem - wouldnt close... and it literally was working minutes beforehand.

I discovered the issue was the latch on the right (the bit you press to release the bonnet) had moved to the left, thus preventing it from dropping down that square hole, instead landing smack on the left of it, and it took me a good minute to work out the issue.

the latch has elongated holes in it, and somehow through my own actions, it had moved (perhaps under duress) left to the point where it was unable to engage correctly.

When I worked out the cause, a few sharp raps with the deadblow moved the latch back over to the right and I tightened the latch down. Problem solved.

I suspect you may have similar issue.
