SupporterI am running a 4.6 in my 1988 RRC, it has a distributor and the distributor driven oil pump.
I have just purchased another distributor to try out but the one I have bought has HEI style pins on the distributor cap for the spark plug leads. It looks a bit cheap and nasty, but I thought I would give it a go.
Just wondering if anyone knows if the Holden V8 HEI leads will be the correct length for me to use.

SupporterI got some leads where you cut them to length and crimp the distributor end fittings and fit the boots. They came with standard female fittings and HEI fittings. Worked very well and have the distributor up and running.
I did have to grind the front of the intake manifold on the LHS to get the distributor in, a fair bit had to come off.

I can't buy the Bosch induction leads separately any more and need new ones for the mooring block.
Needs right angle boots and right angle distributor ends.

SupporterThese are the leads I used Proflow Spark Plug Pro Lead Wires, White Ceramic, 8mm Spiral Core, Blue, Straight Boots, Universal, V8, Set.
They have the 90-degree distributor boots but straight plug boots.
When I was searching around, I saw that a lot of the Chev leads had both 90-degree boots for the distributor and spark plugs.

Proflow had a kit that would have worked but freight would have been a problem for me atm.
Went to the place nearby where the F.A.S.T. ignition system I use cane from and they had a kit by AeroFlow that I bought.
Plug ends were on, just had to cut to length, crimp the dissy ends on using the tool that came in the box and put those boots on and install. Came with extra ends and the coil wire.
The leads were moistly way too long so I've ended up with a long spare.
Proflow resistance are 400 ohms per foot, FAST are 40 per foot and AeroFlow claimed 40 to 50 per foot.
They were all in that range when I tested them before installation. They are spiral wound which I prefer.
The leads that came off were all Bosch induction and around 20 years old. Coil lead was 3500 ohms per foot a couple of the plug leads were the same, one was 6000 and all the rest were over 10 mill.
It still ran ok but was a bit hard to start on lpg.
Purrs now.
It was only when I mentioned the Proflow kit to the dealer that they woke up to something in stock that would work for me. Previously other dealers had gone through their catalogues and couldn't find anything suitable, so thanks for the info Richard.......... made it easy.
