Hi, I have just joined. I used to have a 1982 and really liked the steering, it was light but direct and felt connected to the wheels. Am about to buy a 1990. I recently drove a 1993 and the steering felt was very disconnected. I know that there was a switch from 3 bolt steering box to 4 bolt in 1986? Would this account for the difference in steering feel? Or do the later models have a different pump with more assistance? I am yet to drive the 1990, but am hoping that the steering feel is like my previous 1982. I have read various forums and comments online but no-one talks about the feel of the steering other than how to correct play in steering etc. by adjusting the steering box top.
