    Aftermarket Alarm

I am thinking of changing my alarm as I have only one remote, Its getting hit and miss if it works with that remote and I would like more functions IE full closure of windows and sunroof and tailgate only. I have done a little research and found...Range Rover Alarm and Remote Lock

This looks great info however My alarm unit is not where he says it its under the coin tray. Has anyone changed their alarm if so where is it, was it straight forward to change, any tips etc. My car is a `93 Vouge SE

Not the info you're after but the single button remote is easy to replace as it's a simple task to programme it to the car (if you wanted to stay original).
Any working 2nd hand one (with the right frequency) will work on your car.

Unless someone comes up with the sequence earlier, I'll have to get it for you on Tuesday.

The sequence for initialising the remote to the alarm ECU is:

    Starting conditions:
    Ign off
    Doors unlocked
    Bonnet switch depressed

Within 8 sec, the following must be done in order:
    Ign on
    Ign off
    Doors locked
    Doors unlocked
    Release bonnet switch
    Ign on
    Ign off

If done correctly, the horn will sound & the LED will stay on.
You can now programme the remote to the car.

Hold down the remote button until the dash LED flashes.

The sequence says repeat for the 2nd remote but you already have one operating.

The LED will go out of it's been programmed correctly.

    Hope that helps.

Dont forget to stand on one foot, rub your tummy, stick the tongue out at just the right angle & slightly lean to the right..it should then work!

Arent they just fun to follow

Thanks for the sequence info. It is the same as I already had and it does not work on my car. I still would like to Know where the alarm unit is located. so I could possibly follow the instructions in the link on my 1st post to change the alarm.

The alarm ECU is mounted under the RHS of the dash. Remove the lower dash panel & it's a black box with 2 relays adjacent to it (according to the picture in the manual). It's not hidden away at all & should be staring at you once the panel is off.
