Convertible RR ?

Doable ?

I have (long term) desire to make a convertible RR if at all possible.

Either a Classic or P38. More likely to be an early Classic I think from both financial and looks point of view. I wonder if there are ANY decent 2 doors around ?

I'd be hoping for a V8 on gas.

Anyone seen or done this ?

Advice ?

Tips ?

Photos ?

I've seen a couple down this way, very doable and very slick when done well.

Check out the range rover conversions website, there is lots of ideas there both good and bad.

Done and very easy

the entire top of a series 1 will just unscrew, discoverd this not that long ago, during the building of one of my current toys, see aviator. I have yet to make the roll cage and put the checker plate sides and back on. But have just shortened the front as well by about 6 inches ( hence why the guards and bonnet were off). well back to the question, yes the entire top just screws off with phillips head screwdriver. screws are about 12 cm apart (guess). it is then held on by sealant but will pop off with a little pry with a screw driver or by just hand presure up. I have a parts 2 door as well and a series 1 4 door, just convinced my other half to sell her Suby outback and she now has a 98 hse.

lots of toys. lol

Happy to assist with any question.

Cheers
Craig

By Series 1 Rangie do you mean "Classic" ?

I would think a 2 door would look MUCH better than a 4 door as a convertible.

Best thing - no head room issues ! (Damn sunroof in my old LSE!)

Im with you as far as the 2 door rangies go, my project is a 2 door shortened bothends, have a lot left on the list of things to do, but getting there. 3 of mine are all the classic. well 2 and a half. lol

a convertible 2 door the only way to go, very little to cut when removing the rear structure as well.

oops hit enter before placing pic.rr_0508.jpg

this is at the start of the front chop. It is now about 6 inches shorter in the front, bonnet and guards are getting shortened at the moment.

Lots of work but starting to get there. will see if the pic worked.

Cheers
