3.5L oil pump

Well people i took off the pump packed it and the filter housing with grease (molly) put it back together and cranked it over. nothing :mad: Left it for a day went and got a new oil filter put that on and cranked the engine for 15 sec. I heard a little pop stopped and checked the oil filter. Had fresh oil in it so i started the engine. plenty of oil pressure now and running fine.

Only thing i can think of is the molly grease is to thick to go through the filter and blocked it so no oil was getting in the engine. I have never had a problem with grease blocking filters before but haven't played with rovers before only 308's and sierra engines

Now to the other problems but thats part of owning a rover :)

I used vaso in mine, BUT, I also gave it a shot of Nulon L90 assembly lube up the oil gallery too.
I experienced this problem late on a Saturday afternoon long after any LR place was open, didn't i Mike.....:mad: and I couldnt get a freekin oil pump cover gasket anywhere.
Mine stemmed from a dud spring & plunger sticking which resulted in the only option of removing the cover.
HOWEVER, I have a cunning plan to make a lube feeder into the gearcasing thru the plunger port that will allow me to grease feed the pump without the need to remove the cover. See the pic below for pump ports.

The relief is on the left, the shiny thing poking in thru the cover behind the nut into the cavity.

Greasegun this baby with the right fitting and no more need to pull off the cover!
You only have to pull the plug off the plunger and let oil out and its lost its prime as the plunger has hydraulic support behind it in the spring area to stop it chattering. If you look at the outer edge of the rotor marks where the plunger goes thru, you will see the gap that allows oil flow behind it. Once this oil drains, yibida yibida, err, no oil folks!!
