    Oh, the pain!

You've just brought back some fond memories of... last October for me. Bought a shmick '95 Classic (see Member's Rides), Alternator died on the way home. A couple of weeks later found out the hard way that the radiator was 80% blocked when after driving up a six Km hill she boiled and spat a head gasket! But wait, there's more... Blowing a head gasket wasn't enough, was it? Cracked the block and dropped a sleeve Got a second hand short motor (my heads were OK) and she ran beautifully over the Christmas break. The night before a short trip last week I went to move it in to the garage and all of a sudden wouldn't run properly Of course I hadn't performed that very important and not at all easy to overlook maintenance item, checking the screws that hold the vacuum unit onto the dizzy! Yes, that old chestnut. Luckily it was just a matter of finding a new screw and refitting it (no cost at all)

On the bright side, it doesn't mark its territory and the garage floor is clean and dusty. It's my third RRC and it's the first one that I've been able to park in other people's driveways without fear of soiling them.

Am I upset by all of these problems? yes. Has it turned me off owning RRC's? No way! I flat out refuse to buy anything else - I hope the ministry of finance will let me buy another one if this one dies

So, when you rebuild your RRC make sure you check the radiator, I've also heard from a friend - who had i happen in his Disco on a Simpson crossing - that the fans can sometimes let you down, possibly with the same end result if you don't have one eye stuck on the gauge.

I hope this all makes you feel better about your car

Heres the thread to my head gasket problems.
    3.9 v8 cooling issues

Fortunatly my dad has a hydraulic workshop with an infinate amout of tools, so it'll be there tomorrow, and to top that off the local mechanic is next door so i should be allright.

The good thing is though, i saved up $10000 to buy a $4500 car so it will be on the road again asap.
    Cheers,

    Ben.
