I paid $1500 for a 88, on gas, needed for road worthy (Vic) wiper blades windscreen, gas take test and gas system check over (safety) discs machined, change brake fluid, speedo fixed, (done from help on here), dont think it had ever done much off road work either, it is my base to biuld from now what you got that way.
The key here is not to pay too much. $1500-2000 for a good rangie is a fair price although the price is somewhat 'elevated' in QLD due to the fact that they're a bit hard to come by up here of recent which is no excuse to put the $$$ up
My 88 Rangie cost me $850 (GuyG and I paid $1650, he bought the gear such as the LR tank, rear bar/carrier, front non-winch ARB bar, child restraint bar in the back, sliders all of which I had anyway) although a manual and not a Hi-Line it's been a good beast over the last 6 months of owning it and I find it a bit hard to part with atm to get something better.
One thing at that price I have a 0% carefactor about dents of giving it hell off-road, breakage, etc...
Trav
94 with the goods for $1500.
Thats a deal worth writing home about.
I sold my sorted 93 for $12500.
I also sold a 85 that was totally original for $6k.
It just depends on what you want.
A high mileage car will cost money in replacement parts and a low mileage car can also cost big bucks because of lack of use.
I always consider spending 2-4k per year in maintaining my Landies.
I like to buy a bit cheaper and than spend some money, that way I know whats been done and replaced etc.
I like reliability and believe it or not, my 9 land rovers have never let me down on a trip.(touch wood someone).
Its a big call but thats how it is, I once had the windscreen wipers stop on a 82 2door when it was covered with mud but thats it.
Quite amazing really.
I just bought WayneP's car (Disco 97Tdi).
I know I have to spend 2-3K to get the way I like it but thats fine, its well looked after to start of with if you get what I mean.
I just like my cars with all little things working and servicing up to date.
Best of luck.
Buy cheap and spend up, stimulate the economy.
so he should, and i here he's going to install my isuzu aswell;):p
Vern
Not sure what that means but am sure its good.
Well i will wait for the Perfect Rangy to come up as there is no rush. I would personally like a well priced pre built up truck which hasn't been flogged too hard.
Wish me luck!
