Thread: Extractors off 3.5 fit a 3.9?

    Extractors off 3.5 fit a 3.9?

    I have a set of Genie headers (extractors) in my shed in excellent nick, they came off a friend's 87RRC when he took out the 3.5 in favour of a 4.4. They would not fit up to the 4.4, I'm wondering whether they will fit on my 94 soft-dash 3.9 and whether they would be worth fitting. Anyone know?

    Yes they fit but.....You may find the stock Efi manifold will flow better as is

    Thanks for the replies. I've always reckoned the stock EFI exhaust manifolds are a very good design and more reliable than extractors, the friend with the 87RR said they did make an improvement to his 3.5 but upon reflection his was a carby model, he put EFI on it after the 4.4 conversion.

    Now to find where my other thread has gone...?

    I mean in terms of longevity, as cast manifolds don't rust out like extractors do, also less problems with manifold-to-head leaks although I think the more modern extractors are not as bad in that regard as they used to be.

    I like them, but have no car that i have fitted them to, so hence i have 3 sets of extractors hanging in the shed....

    i just pulled a set of headers (extractors) off a rangie im wrecking atm, had a 2.5 inch system after them aswell, has to make a difference! they standard pipe design isnt very efficient. built to last but not to be efficient.

    putting the complete system on tommorrow, will put up the results before and after!
