Michelin Tires
I'm after a couple of Michies 205-80r-16 to replace a couple on the rear.
Been quoted $279 but been told they are hard to get and I should put on Michie Synchrones, quoted price is $299.
I have always had exceptional wear from the XPC so would like to stay with them.
Anyone know if they are still available.

Don't know the specific answer to your question Bill, but exceptional wear seems to be a characteristic of Michelin tyres across the range so i would not be too fazed if you have to change types.

XPC's are no longer brought into the country or made is what I have been told also.
They have been my Tyre of choice for 10 years or more.
Synchrones and in fact most of their range is great.
TRS is a whole saler here in SA and they still have some slightly worn ones here but they are used and with freight might not be worth it.
I swapped to Coopers and found them just as good if not a tad better off road as I got ATR's. Slightly noisier but great.
Hope that helps.

Just a suggestion.
BFG Long Trail TAs in 205.80x16 reinforced are made in France.
Michelin owns BFG. Make your own conclusions but I reckon they are made by Michelin.
I have a set and like them very much. They are probably a bit more agressive than Michelin Synchrones, with a directional tread with a closed shoulder on the outside for cornering, but a T/A type shoulder on the inside.
