Thread: swap or sell my RRC

The carbies in my first Rangie (84 model) were the most unreliable and troublesome I have ever had. The EFI system on the 88 model I have had for 12 years is one of the most trouble-free things I have ever had. Granted, EFI backfires are a potential source of problems with the flapper system. Your $1,000 might have been better spent replacing the EFI system with a MAP-based system to complement the LPG, but I guess that suggestion's not much value to you now. My point though is that the early RR twin-carb system in my experience is not the way to go if you are looking for reliability over the EFI.

Why not keep your rangie and just change the inlet manifold and fuel pump for a carbie setup? BTW - I've got twin SU's on my P5B and they have have been faultless.

so going an older model for same money?

no offence but that makes no sense..fix the one you already got..don't but someone elses old problem..

Master Toey1977 .... Either stick with the one you have got .... or go for a 1990 model ... the one with the 3.9 V8 Hotwire EFI

You are so close to getting it running reliable & right ... It's not funny ... Remember that the car ran good for 21 years // Now that you have fixed it ... One can only suggest another hassle free set of years are coming your way

Also you now know more than you think about the setup of your EFI flapper ... and the next time it shaggs about ... You will be able to cut to the chase and make repairs straight up

Your EFI IS RELIABLE .... You just copped the service & repair stage of 21 years of it's life .... It will not just "one day" stop in the middle of know-where and leave you stranded

If you buy another ... Well ... It would be like starting all over again

Sell or swap if you hate the Brand or Model or the Colour .... But don't sell it if it's all about ... Don't understand the EFI & it gave me grief ...


Mate ... Mine was a bomb when I got it ... Took the best part of a year to straighten out most of it's flaws /// And I knew "screw all" about RRC at the time

IT still a work in progress .... AND loving it




.... if it's running OK.....
Now find a Bush track .. and go drive it for a day and let me know if it was all worth while
