    bending trailling arms

    hi all i have a 1984 rangie im going to give it a 3 inch suspension lift i want to also bend the trailling arms they are straight at the moment, how many degrees of 180 should i bend them , i am also going to reinforce them with 20x20x3mm angle iron , thanks from peter

    Hi Peter
    have a look at the LRA website, Andrew sells offset/angled trailing arm chasis bushes which are very good. I've used them on my RRC for years with a similar lift with no problems, might be an alternative to bending the arms but you could still reinforce them as you suggested

    reinforce them by finding some 3mm wall thickness tube that slides over neatly, drill some holes in it and fill with silicon
    them get the angled bushes or make some wedges to angle yours

    Don't bend them unless you are a VERY good welder and support their entire length. Ever seen what happens when a bent one collpases going up a steep hill? I have and it ain't pretty including smashed diff nose, shot tailshaft etc etc. Regards Philip A
