whats your fuel cap/filler neck seal like?
Can anyone tell me where the fuel vents to if you overfill, please.
I have a suspected leak and would like to check that first, I have already replaced the rubber hose that connects to the fill but there is still a leak there somewhere.
Appreciate any input.
Cheers,
Mike

I have a 92 and a long range tank ( and no problem) . Mine vents out the filler if I overfill.LOL However There was a recall several years ago on the plastic tanks. There are apparently vent fittings on each top corner of the plastic tank and the fittings themselves used to break. Thats where I would be looking but it is a drop the tank job. Regards Philip A
Hi Mike, do you notice a fuel smell specially when the tank is full (ie just been filled) or is it happening all the time?
It was only after I filled up.
I first thought it was the rubber hose connection from the tank to the filler neck, so replaced that and still there was fuel leaking,
To cut a short story long, it turned out that the filler neck on the tank was cracked half way round.
Took it to my friendly "Joes Garage" in Noosaville, he emptied the tank and sealed the crack up with Araldite, no more problems.
Cheers,
Mike
Nice one, glad you got it sorted.
I had a fuel smell occurring on my 89 Range Rover after I filled the tank, turned out to be the resin on top of the fuel pump where the wiring goes though had perished , causing a crack to appear, which let fuel out the top when full.
After some great advice from the Australian Range Rover and Discovery Forum, I fixed it by carefully digging out the old resin and replacing it with araldite, has been perfect ever since.
Cheers, Pete.
