To my knowledge only 150 were imported into Australia - 1993 to 1995.
History was the same as the UK LSE except we got the 3.9 litre engine and they got the 4.2.
I too would like to know how many are remaining but I doubt this can be ascertained.
G'day & Happy New Year to all !
Just creating a history of the LSE in Aust and asking if anyone knows how many were imported, the history of the design, and an estimate of how many remaining.
Any input greatly appreciated
thanks

A bit of history about the design I can help with. They were only made to evaluate the longer (108"?) wheelbase that the upcoming P38a was to have.
Obviously LR liked it .

Just to add a bit more.
The 93 LSE had the old style square dash and somewhat cumbersome multi levered heating/cooling controls common to all previous RR models. It also had the traditional painted 3 spoke alloy wheels.
The 94 LSE had the new 'soft dash' with far more friendly [modern] controls/switches etc. The 94 on also had the much more attractive polished 'Star' pattern alloy wheels.
Under the bonnet there were subtle engineering differences eg the oil pump from memory and differences in the air intake but I cannot recall what all these were. As memory kicks in I'll add as needed for you.
Just to be pedantic, we never had a 1994 MY Range Rover in Australia. They went from KA (1993MY) straight to MA (1995MY).
I actually prefer the 93 dash to the soft dash. The soft dash seems too 'flat' in my book.

Thanks everybody .... all good info
So it would seem 150 brought to Aust, 3.9l with 4 speed auto
Did RR ever produce an 'extended version' after the LSE?
Be interesting to see how many remaining of the 150 - and in daily use
cheers all

Hiker - Q - Did RR ever produce an 'extended version' after the LSE?-Q
The successor to the LSE was the P38 on a near identical chassis and with the same on board toys.

Well, I have a soft dash LSE and a mate has one of the first of the old style dash LSEs. Both cars are in absolutly excellent condition - mechanically, interior wise and externally. No accident damage with either of them and both maintained fastidiously without reference to cost. And both are used as per any other daily driver and recreational four wheel drive -they're not just show ponies.
Scouse - I didn't know that about the model years with the LSEs so thanks for that. My LSE is an April 1994 manufacture so possibly it is one of the first soft dash models produced which came here to Australia. Open to correction here of course.
I forgot to add this to my last post......must be getting old.
Hiker - Why are you interested in building a history of LSEs in Australia?
I have a 10/1993 model in a dark royal blue metallic(Not certain of the actual LR colour name, anyone?), has the 5 spoke star alloys (colour coded to vehicle), and is now re powered with a 300Tdi and auto etc from a 1998 D1.
Early dash, dark brown leather, heated seats and heated window wired but been replaced with standard at some point.
I have 2 customers with them, a 1993 like mine but in grey, (3 spoke wheels though) and a Gunmetal 1994 softdash , lifted, twin locked, 4.6 and Autronic, THIS one gets used a LOT
