mate, i would love a disco. But the reason we are looking at a rangie is I have been trying for about a year now to find a late model manual TDi with reasonable km but have had no luck at all. Lots of vehicles in the big smoke but none around FNQ. Lots of autos though.Quote:

No spacers under my electric seat that I can see.- Will check rear mounts but front of rails are hard on the tin-plate framing...
Sensible long-term idea would be to have the mounts re-built an inch or so lower, let the seat-height mechanism extend upward for the vertically challenged occasional drivers... Expensive, though cheaper than buying another car or having the whole roof lifted an inch or two.
Its the sun-roof that takes that last usefull inch of headspace!
Look on the Bright Side... what other luxury vehicle can make a bloke GLAD to be bald ? :D

Interesting. I'm 6 foot two and had a similar problem.But when I fixed my sagging roof lining and fitted some velcro to keep it up the problem was solved.
My Roof lining was A1 - that wasn;t the problem.
Sorry to hijack the thread, but does anyone know if there's more headroom in a P38a, particularly models from 95-99??
I'm currently looking for a classic or P38a, and I'm 6'2"...
I am also looking to do something similar, I am not as tall, but I am long in the torso, so still have clearance issues. I was going down the Re-engineering the mounts, but I am not sure on the legal ramifications of this are - do you need some kind of engineers report? We used to do seat mount mods years ago, but only fitting different runners & seats, not lowering the mounts - but I'm not so sure the authorities would look the other way now if it was involved in an accident. Any thoughts?

I'm 6'3" and, given the space taken up by the sunroof mechanism, have to agree with the gist of the thread that my Vogue LSE 94 is really only suitable for midgets. You can see the clear forensic evidence my head against the headlining, and you don't need any CSI Miami black lights neither. Nevertheless, I still love the beast. No such altitude problems in the subsequent models...
The story I've heard, is that HM the Queen was not amused at One's Corgis riding upon the leather seats in the rear of One's estate buggy, and One asked Rover - the holder of a Royal Warrant - if they could do something to entice One's doggies to be content with the floor, the right and proper place for One's pets...
With remarkable (and rare) insight, the engineers at Rover worked out that the Corgis could not fit in the meagre legroom of the back seat, thus their preference for Upstairs. Though short of leg, they are quite ample around the midriff....
The solution was simple, make the car longer, all the space being in the back.
The Royal yappies were not amused, HM was pleased, and Rover realized they were onto something with the longer version...
Because HM was vertically challenged, Rover did not wish to further illustrate the fact by making the roof-line higher (to keep proportion) which would place HM's crown rather low in the window line...
Probably a load of .... but it sounds good ! ;-)
The truth is perhaps more basic, maybe the Duke was a lousy passenger, and Liz wanted the roof nice and low... so he could'nt ride with her around the garden...
