I got a delivery in the post today. I got a pair of door key barrels and keys. Will fit them tomorrow. Will be able to lock the doors now....I hope.
Cheers Rod
I got the auto electric bloke to fit a new engine stop control (EDIC). So nice to just turn the key off and it stops.

Ok today I fitted the new clutch hose and overhauled the slave cyl. Bugger to fit with the pto driveshafts in the way. Bigger bugger to bleed coz of said shafts. All good clutch great.
Next I fitted second hand EDIC cable, thanks rar110. Now turns on and off with the key. Great.
Refitted intake duct correctly.
Tomorrow's job might be fitting a 12 nato plug back in and maybe making a 12 to 7 pin large round plug adaptor cable.
Will have to get my no.5 trailer to test the lights then.
Today i fitted the 12 pin nato plug to the perentie. I also fitted the key barrels to both doors. Wonder why the army cut the locks up so the barrels stick out? Anyway i fitted the barrels and fitted some heater hose over the ends of the barrels to protect them and make them more asthetically pleasing to look at. They function well.
Im pleased with myself.
Cheers Rod
Well done Rod, slowly getting there!
Cheers......Brian

Referring back to post #1510 above ...
Well here we go, my promised pictures and a summary writeup of “what I did to my Perentie”, installing a Repco $70 reversing camera and a 12v camping/reversing light.
Unfortunately, medical incidents have delayed the project beyond where it was when I last posted in this thread (#1510) but now I’m well again and it is completed
This is not a treatise on modern electronics, I just used old time procedures with fuses, wire, connectors and crimper using cable thick enough to carry the current for the long runs. I tried to do as little alteration to the this very original RFSV so that some future custodian wouldn’t be cursing me for mucking up the OME wiring.
Camera Requirements
The camera instructions come with the logical instruction that it should be wired from the reverse lights so that it comes on when the vehicle is in reverse gear. But, as you probably realise, the reversing lights in a Perentie only work if the engine is running, so for a Perentie, I think that it is preferable to have it manually switched so that the rear view can be checked anytime, even prior to starting.
The camera draws such a minimal current that it has been wired from the main battery for convenience.
Rear Worklight Requirements
It has been wired so that it can be used at anytime for camp setup , cooking etc. Also can be used for reversing down a dark driveway or in the bush for better illumination for reversing.
Since the RFSV has a dual battery system it is obviously preferable to power it from the aux (non-starting) battery if it is going to be left on for some time for example, while a meal is cooked.
Generally
As it is a soft top, the camera and light are mounted on a post on the driver side rear corner. The post is readily detachable so that it can be removed to avoid snagging on overhanging vegetation in scrub country.
Throughout I have avoided drilling holes wherever possible so cables are tied in conduit and split corrugated tube and the mains are ducted it in the gal side capping where possible. Garden watering tube (16mm od) from Bunnings makes good lightweight conduit that can be readily cable tied to existing rollover and canvas support frames.
The dash of an RFSV is quite cluttered anyhow with the high fusebox and precision odometer already, so small plastic jiffy boxes from Jaycar make excellent switch mounts and containers in which excess cable can be secured.
The cheap reversing camera kits seem to carry rather an excess of cable length some of which can be removed – but take care not to sever the small 4 core camera to monitor cable – I imagine it could be difficult to rejoin correctly/satisfactorily. One of the wireless kits would overcome a lot of this.
Hopefully this can give someone an idea that I'm sure they'll be able to improve on
Note: the attached pic with the severed cables shows what can safely be removed from the cheap camera kit, the black box on top of my centre console is one of the jiffy boxes I have used

Today i dug out the can of protec camoflage green paint. It was camoflaged so was hard to find....not really.
I stucka tent peg in my drill to stir it up coz its been sitting a while and was very lumpy.
I painted the 4 replacement door hinges. Then i went mad on the pink spots that were on the green paint on the bushpig. I also painted the shiny galve d shackles ive got hanging front and rear.
Then i painted the pintle towball type hitch.
Its all green now.
I rang protec and asked about the other 2 paint colours. They have the green and black but no tan. Bugger. They no longer manufacture the paint in Adelaide. It now comes from Melbourne. Only in 4lt tins too. They have the green and black also in spray cans but again no tan. Grrr.
No pics today. Sorry.
Oh and i made a 12 pin plug to 7 pin large socket adaptor as well. Must test it tomorrow with the tester thingy.
Cheers Rod
