My ship is going to take me to Uganda and back! But it'll get Plasti-dipped to temporarily cover the cam paint...
I love it! I have finally reached driving nirvana.

At long last I have rejoined the family of Land Rover owners. I now have a Truck, Carryall, Lightweight, Personnel Carrier parked on the driveway, gently dripping oil in only the way a Land Rover can!
A mate of mine drove her straight up to Brisbane from the Melbourne auction without any significant issues. Minor things like one windscreen wiper falling off just don't count.
She has a definite ooze of oil coming from the rear seal of the transfer case, so that will probably be the first item for attention.
As to use, she will be put to work for everything from carting materials for renovation projects, carting the kids on holiday, performing duty as an official vehicle on the Variety Bash... and so on. This will entail a few additions like radios, roof rack, and lights. Even SWMBO is happy - this particular Carryall has aircon fitted :D
Congrats DM!
Welcome to the Perentie Club.
It is fitted, we all want to know "Does it work?!"
:)
got this with only 31000km on it
woops, photo didn't upload
Congrats GI Bo.
Is that indicated K's or log booked since rebuild?
Enjoy!
log book km "no rebuild!!" but now greys are having a massive auction that ends tomorrow, so many on there that the bids are still sitting at 2-4 grand, bit annoyed mine wasn't that cheep but $9455.09 for a 4x4 with only 30000km on it from 1988 is still a good purchase. can't wait to get the turbo put on so i can take off faster than a bus
Gi Bo, don't stress mate. Smidge under 10K is good money for very low ks.
The last 30Seconds are what counts with the auctions. You will see a BIG surge in the last thirt minutes.
I picked up a GS a few weeks ago with the intention of using it to go camping and by extension fishing, metal detecting and gold panning. It will make the job of getting on site to some of the places I like to go alot easier. That being said I also drive it around town on odd jobs, it's a lot of fun :D
Just picked up a 1988 GS with 4570 kms on the clock though I'm sure this is post re-build since the body's been around the traps and has a few issues to deal with. It has a re-galvanised chassis, full engine rebuild, new gearbox and transfer case, new front end, exhaust system and wiring harness and new Michelins all round plus lots of other replaced bits and pieces. Judging by the dates on various things this took place in mid 2009.
I couldn't be more pleased and will be heading off for a couple of weeks off- road camping in a few weeks to try it out.
My main problem is that the Central Diff Lock light is not working and I am not sure if its engaging or not when I pull out the knob - presumably I can jack up a couple of wheels and try rotating them?
Can't wait to try it out - the last time I owned a Landrover was a Series 2a in 1969 so I'm a bit rusty!
